The Seattle Tang Soo Do Association was founded in 1979 by Master Mike Shintaku, 7th Dan Master, as an organization who’s mission is to provide the best, top quality martial arts instruction in the Northwest. The Burien branch has been the central home of the Seattle Tang Soo Do Association (STSDA) until 2009 when Master Shintaku opened Exceed Martial Arts in Renton, WA.
1990 saw the expansion of the STSDA when Master Shintaku became the Chief Instructor of the Karate Program for the Bellevue Family YMCA. After 20 years teaching Tang Soo Do in Bellevue, Master Shintaku left the Bellevue YMCA to open Exceed Martial Arts in Renton, WA.
As Master Shintaku’s focus was now Exceed Martial Arts, Master Paulson, 4th Dan Master, under Master Shintaku was installed as Head Instructor of the Burien branch of the STSDA.
In 2012 the focus and mission of the Seattle Tang Soo Association is to provide the best, top quality martial arts instruction for men, women, and children in the Northwest
